In house, I provide a preservation level transfer service for:
 • Quarter-inch tape: all speeds, track layouts and noise reduction types
 • Compact cassette: Stereo and multi-track ‘Portastudio’
 • MiniDisc: Standard Play (SP), Long Play (LP2 and LP4), Hi-MD (Hi-LP, Hi-SP and PCM)
 • Digital Audio Tape (DAT): all sample rates, 16 and 24-bit
 • Records: Vinyl, Shellac and Lacquer disc, all speeds
 • PCM audio on videotape: Betamax and VHS, 14 and 16-bit
 • Optical discs: Compact Disc (CD), Compact Disc Recordable (CD-R) and audio on Digital Versatile Disc (DVD)
 • Dictation cassette: Mini and Micro variants

Custom Cuts Mastering has a specialist audio digitising and conservation studio, where we working to preserve valuable recordings for the future.
Building upon 30+ years’ worth of engineering experience, I have the technology to restore and replay many audio formats, enabling us to make high-quality transfers into any type of digital file you choose.
I work to preserve the past in order to give access to historic audio recordings for the future.

Although the original items themselves cannot be physically altered, improvements can be made to the sound through careful cleaning and by expert transfer on our professional grade equipment. Large improvements can usually be made after digitisation by the sympathetic and judicious use of our restoration software suite, resulting in the majority of clicks, crackles and hiss being effectively removed or significantly reduced, without adversely affecting the underlying sound.
